Privacy Policy

Brain Ninjas (“Company,” “we,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy governs your access to and use of brainninjas.ca, including any content, functionality, and services offered on or through brainninjas.ca (the “Website”).

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before you start to use the Website. By using the Website, or by clicking to accept or agree to the Terms of Use when this option is made available to you, you accept and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you must not access or use the Website.

Children Under the Age of 13

Our Website is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on this Website or through any of its features, register on the Website, make any purchases through the Website, use any of the interactive or public comment features of this Website, or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or user name you may use.

If we learn that we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please reach out to us through our contact form.

Your Information

Information You Provide to Us. The Website provides various places for users to provide information. We collect information that users provide by filling out forms on the Website, communicating with us through our contact form, responding to surveys, using our search feature, providing comments or other feedback, and providing information when ordering a product or service through the Website.

We use the information you provide to deliver the products or services you requested, to improve our overall performance, and to provide you with offers, promotions, and information.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technology. As you use our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies, including Google Analytics, to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns. This generally includes information about your location, your traffic pattern through our Website, and any communications between your computer and our Website. Among other things, we collect data about the type of computer you use, your Internet connection, your IP address, your operating system, and your browser type.

The information we collect automatically is used for statistical purposes and does not include personal information. We use this data to improve our Website and our service offerings. To the extent that you voluntarily provide personal information to us, our systems may associate the automatically collected information with your personal information.

Our Use of Cookies

Like many other commercial websites, our Website uses a standard technology called “cookies,” along with server logs, to collect information about how our site is used. Information gathered through cookies and server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, the time spent on our site, the websites visited just before and just after our own, and your IP address.

A cookie is a very small text file, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier. When you visit a website, that site’s computer asks your computer for permission to store this file in a part of your hard drive specifically designated for cookies. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser’s preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a website to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some parts of the Website may not work as well if you do.

If you choose to correspond with us, we may retain the content of your messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we use for information received online, by mail, and by telephone. This also applies when you register on our Website, sign up through any of our forms using your email address, or make a purchase. For more information, see “Our Email Policy” below.

Our Email Policy

We are committed to keeping your email address confidential. We do not sell, rent, or lease our subscription lists to third parties, and we will not disclose your email address to any third party, except to the service providers who help us send our emails on our behalf (see “Third-Party Services” below).

We comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means:

  • Consent: We only send you commercial emails, such as newsletters, promotions, and product updates, with your consent. You give us consent when you sign up for our newsletter, download a free resource, or choose to join our email list through a form on our Website.
  • Double opt-in: After you sign up, we send you an email asking you to confirm your subscription. You are only added to our email list once you click the confirmation link in that email.
  • Clear sender information: Every email we send clearly states who it is from and how to contact us.
  • Easy unsubscribe: Every email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time, and we will honour your request promptly.

If you ever have trouble unsubscribing, please reach out through our contact form and we will remove you from our email list.

The How and Why of Collecting Your Information

We collect your information to record and support your participation in the activities you select. If you register to download resources, sign up for our newsletter, or purchase a product from us, we collect your information. We use this information to keep track of your preferences and to keep you informed about the products and services you have selected to receive, as well as any related products and services.

As a visitor to this Website, you can engage in most activities without providing any personal information. You are only required to provide information when you want to download resources or register for services.

When you complete a form on the Website that includes an email sign-up, you agree to receive our newsletter once you confirm your subscription. If you do not want to receive it, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email we send.

Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party services to run our Website and our business. These services may process your information on our behalf, only as needed to provide their service to us:

  • Flodesk, our email service provider, which stores our subscriber list and sends our emails.
  • Shopify, which powers our online store at shopbrainninjas.ca and processes orders and payments. When you purchase from our store, your information is also handled under Shopify’s privacy practices.
  • Google Analytics, which helps us understand how visitors use our Website.
  • Our website hosting provider, which stores our Website and its data.

Some of these providers may store or process information outside of Canada, including in the United States. We only work with reputable providers that use appropriate security measures to protect your information.

Our Website may also contain links to other websites, including our TeachersPayTeachers store. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

How We Protect Your Information

We use commercially reasonable methods to protect the information you provide to us and the information we collect automatically. This includes using standard security protocols and working only with reputable third-party vendors.

Email is not a secure way to communicate. For this reason, we ask that you do not send private information to us by email. Some of the information you enter on our Website may be transmitted securely using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. We never ask for credit card or other sensitive payment information by email, and payments are handled by secure third-party payment processors.

We may use software programs to create summary statistics, which help us assess the number of visitors to different sections of our site, learn what information is of most and least interest, determine technical design specifications, and identify system performance or problem areas.

For site security purposes, and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, we use software programs to monitor network traffic and identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or otherwise cause damage.

Your Rights and Choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw your consent to receive emails at any time. To make a request, please use our contact form.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may use your contact information to inform you of changes to the Website or its content or, if you ask, to send you additional information about us. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, or otherwise alter our Website, its content, and this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes take effect immediately once the updated Privacy Policy is posted. Please review this Privacy Policy periodically. If you continue to use the Website or its content after changes are posted, you accept the revised Privacy Policy.

GDPR

If you are in the European Union, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These rights include:

  • The right to request access to the data we store about you, and the right to correct or erase your personal data.
  • The right to ask us to restrict the processing of your data.
  • The right to object to the processing of your data and the right to data portability.
  • The right to withdraw your consent at any time, where we process your personal data based on your consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before you withdrew it.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority that has jurisdiction over issues related to the GDPR.

We keep any information you choose to provide to us until the earliest of: (a) you ask us to delete it, (b) we decide to stop using our existing data providers, or (c) we decide that the value of keeping the data is outweighed by the cost of keeping it.

We only require the information that is reasonably needed to enter into a contract with you. We will not require you to consent to any unnecessary processing as a condition of entering into a contract with us.

Contact Us

We welcome your questions or comments about this Privacy Policy. Please reach out to us through our contact form.

Effective as of October 2026.
