If you teach in Alberta, you know the government made major changes to all subject areas in kindergarten through Grade 6. We plan on updating or rewriting resources for social studies, but this takes time.
We need to review the curriculum to see which resources can be updated at the same grade level, which need to be adjusted for other grades and which need to be written from scratch. In the past, this has taken years, so we cannot guarantee any resources will be adjusted for the 2025-26 school year. We want to ensure the outcomes are finalized before committing the time (since there have been so many changes over the past 8 years).
Some of our resources will be adjusted for other grades. If you own these, you’ll be able to get the updated versions.
Since so much of the new curriculum needs to be written, we will need time to decide how (and if) the material will work. Once we have a more detailed plan, we will update this page to keep you informed.
Our original resources fall into one of these three categories:
- We cannot guarantee your past purchases will work for the new outcomes, but we will do our best to salvage as much as possible. Look for REVISION for resources that have been revised and are in the same grade level. Look for ADJUSTED for resources adjusted for a new grade level.
- New outcomes will have new resources written for them. Look for NEW! to find new resources.
- Resources that no longer align with Alberta and cannot be repurposed in other jurisdictions will be discontinued. You will still have access to them, but we will not be updating them at this time.
When the links are live, the resource is updated and ready to use.
Grade 2
Many of our Grade 5 resources are on the same topic as the new Grade 2. However, we will not be adjusting our Canadian geography resources for Grade 2. First, we are not curriculum writers for Division 1. Second, the activities are too advanced for Grade 2 regardless of how simple we try to make them. We do not plan to write any resources for Grade 2 at this time.
